A Back to School 5 for Friday

Oh my goodness these holidays have gone so quickly! I'm really loving summer but I'm also looking forward to heading back, new school, new class, new teacher peeps. Hopefully it will all be exciting :)

~One~

This week has been complete chaos, work wise. My teaching buddy and I definitely need another week for set-up {we've been in at least 4 days out of 5 for the last 3 weeks!} but I am refusing to go in this weekend. I need some me time before work takes over my life again! But our rooms are getting there, we are planning to meet VERY early Tuesday morning to finish the clean up. I'm really looking forward to that, not.

I'm using these clipboards as a revolving display space. Each kidlette has their own clipboard & they'll be able to choose what they display. They look great, even if these pics don't do them justice. I think I may have gotten the idea from somewhere on Pinterest. Love it!

~Two~

Had coffee at two of my favourite places with two of favourite people this week. Coffee at Percy & Percy on Thursday with my ex-{and extremely missed} teaching buddy M. This place is an old milk bar/corner store and has lots of little rooms, cute corners and communal tables. Love it!
This pic is from here

Yesterday at the Old Green Bean with the Hubs. They leave crocheted blankets on the chairs - how cute is that?! And yes it was close to 30C yesterday but I still used the blanket. The Bean also has a vintage store inside, so it's my version of a coffee/shoppy heaven.

~Three~

Tomorrow is Australia Day. Normally I would make a bucket load of lamingtons- sponge cake, dipped in runny chocolate icing, dipped in coconut- yummy. But we are on a healthy eating kick at the moment (we are doing so well!) so the Hubs has banned me from baking. We both can't help ourselves, we'd eat the lot. I found this recipe today from Raspberri Cupcakes for Lamington biscuits. These look SO good.

~Four~

Loving long, gorgeous summer walks around the Lake.

~Five~

I'm having a 100th post giveaway that ends later today. Stop by & enter :)

I'm heading off to enjoy this gorgeous Saturday. Enjoy yours,

5 for Friday and a Freebie!

It's so nice to be writing this today with a smile on my face! We had a good week- an entire week without one of my poppets having a severe, classroom wrecking, melt down- and it's ONLY taken ooh 28 weeks of school to get here. Little M's broken arm was horrible but overall it was still a good week.

I'm linking up with Doodlebugs again, my last one before I go away, to share the goodness!

I visited my Poppet with the broken arm last night. She end up with pins in the wrist and elbow and having her arm wired. Fun! We made cards & I bought her some sticker books and a toy as a present.

It's finally spring! My gorgeous Daffodils.

The weather has been gorgeous (24C) until Thursday so it's been a wonderful start. The sun has made our lemon tree come back to life! I couldn't believe how many buds had come out in a few days- it was completely naked Monday.

Just incase you were wondering about my Study Tour trip... :)

X is for X-Rays- we made these by tracing around our arms and gluing down cotton buds for the bones. Idea found on Pinterest by one of my unit peeps.

I visited my Mum on Sunday and was sent home with a boot load of stuff including these Pyrex dishes & a green glass jug. The orange sunflower dish and I are in love- it was meant to be :)

This week we have been writing procedures and we made toast. And nobody was injured, put butter on the ceiling, each other, licked the knife or anything!

They made a mess of the butter, which I pinched out of our staffroom fridge. When a teaching peep asked what had happened to it and I explained by saying "But no-one licked it or put their face in it- it's safe" he laughed. Let's face it, it could have happened :)

This poppet does the best drawings! I love the bubble head style and he even included his school polo top in the picture. The kiddo is a cracker!

And now for a Freebie!

If you would like the toast template I have uploaded it here just for you! It's basic but might be handy.

Have a great weekend,

Sunday Smorgasbord!

I'm having the "I'm a bad blogger" guilts today. My bloglette is a bit neglected but work is CRA-ZY at the minute. It shouldn't be but it is!

So to celebrate the craziness and actually encourage myself to blog I'm linking up with Michelle for a Sunday Smorgasbord.

Monday we had an amazing local artist named Terry Jarvis come and visit. He had sessions with all of our classes this week and they love him! Their paintings came up really well!

This week I am in the wonderful chaos of preparing for our grade 3's to be confirmed next week. (I work in a Catholic school if this sounds confusing). It has been almost 6 months of prep and it is finally here! This is my first year in charge so it's been a learning curve but lots of fun...
The display the grade 6's & I worked on, on Friday- the kids names are on doves if you can't tell- it looks pretty good I think!
Although after spending over 6 hours today working on the PowerPoint for the Mass I'm not feeling as excited as I sound but at least it's finished now! I am so looking forward to Saturday night being over just so I know it's all been successful.

This is our fat cat Axel. Just because :) He loves milk (particularly out of a bowl full of cereal while one of us is trying to eat it), chewing paper, vegemite, dark spaces and sticking his head into things like mugs of tea, jars of peanut butter, etc. He's a weirdo but we love him!

I've also been baking up a storm this week. I love to bake but I am completely random- I won't bake for a month and then I'll bake 3 things a day for a week. This week I've made a few batches of yo-yo biscuits & choc fudge.

YO-YO BISCUIT RECIPE:
6oz (180g) butter
2oz (60g) icing sugar, sifted
6oz (180g) plain flour
2oz (60g) custard powder
½ teaspoon vanilla essence
FILLING:
2oz (60g) butter
½ cup icing sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla essence
2 teaspoons milk

What are yo-yo biscuits (cookies) called in America? I base all my US knowledge on the gazillion Baby-Sitters Club books I read as a kid and I remember snicker doodles, ice-cream sandwiches & ding-dongs but no yo-yo's. Are they called cookie sandwiches? Hmm..

Hope this was a random enough post and that you stuck with me :)
