Five for Friday: End of May!

What a week! I am completely jealous of all the teachers in the Northern Hemisphere about to start Summer break. We are slowly trudging toward our mid-year holidays, while it is getting lovely and cold outside. I'm blogging to distract myself from writing reports {oops} so without further ado here is what we have been up to this week!
Btw- Linking up with Kasey over at Doodlebugs for 5 for Friday.

We broke out the oil pastels to create these Owls using directed drawing. I love how all my kiddos pieces turn out completely differently even though we follow the same instructions.

The kiddos (and staff) had a blast listening to Jonas and his "Ghana Beat My Drum" performance this week. It is an incursion definitely worth checking out if you are an Australian teacher. He was super funny and had the kids up dancing, as well as learning about Ghana and the different types of music.

We have been surviving road works outside our school for the last few weeks. The arrival of the cement truck caused huge excitement this week! I think the tradies will be glad when they've moved on to  a place where they don't get asked so many questions :)

~ Four ~
I received the new Maths Box from RIC publications this week and holy coconuts it is awesome! A review is to come soon but we have already put it to good use during our Math groups.

~ Five ~
Coldplay here we come! I scooped up tix for when Coldplay are in Melbourne in December. Bring it on!

And now I guess I have to get back to report writing! Make sure you check out the other fantastic posts in the link-up here (and get summer break envy like I have).

Happy weekend!

A Spring Five for Friday

I'm taking a few minutes between report writing this morning to link up with Kasey at Doodle Bugs for Five for Friday. It's been a while!

We had a fun night at the Zart Christmas PD this week. I really love these nights and getting to see teacher peeps I haven't seen in a while. Plus making awesome crafts is a bonus! Can't wait for Christmas.

We made some Starry Night inspired art this week, focusing on a impressionist style using oil pastels to create some texture. Kiddos loved it!

Finally found the perfect portable record player. She is a gem!

Tuesday was Melbourne Cup. As I have a million and one things to do at the minute I hadn't planned on including any activities this year but the kiddos twisted my arm. They turned these horse patterns into these amazing horse statues independently. Love how these kiddos minds work!

We are loving Spring here and so is our garden!

Enjoy your weekend!

Five for Friday- 22nd of May

Happy Friday! I'm linking up with Kasey from Doodle Bugs to share the hip-happeneings from this week.

~ One ~
Our Author Study this term has been Graeme Base. After reading Uno's Garden this week we used the site Build Your Wild Self to create magical creatures for Uno's Garden. Easy to use and heaps of fun.

~ Two ~
Our Inquiry topic this term is "How Can We Make a Change for the Better?". We have been investigating our impact on the Earth and the resources we use by calculating our Carbon footprint. We made this cute freebie craft from Teach with Me.

~Three~
Our Silhouette Zentangles turned out fantastically! My class are loving art at the minute, t's great to see how creative they are.

~ Four~
Our Wonderwall thinkings are starting to head in a new direction to finish up our Inquiry unit. It's great to see how my students all have different areas they are interested in from renewable resources, to volunteer organisations, to causes and effects of natural disasters. I'm really looking forward to the 'Going Further' stage!

~ Five ~
Our Bushfire Silhouettes from last week, they turned out better than expected.

Happy weekend,

Five for Friday- 8th of May

What a week it's been! Yay for Friday. Linking up with Kasey from Doodle Bugs to share the Friday love.

~ One ~
We got busy this week making these adorable Mother's Day Candle holders. They were fairly easy and look adorable but, I'll admit when my teaching buddy said we were making these and we're arming the kids with spray paint I looked at her like she was insane! Turned out well, so all worth it.

~ Two ~
I was gifted these yesterday from a cutie and her brother. They were so sweet. Even loved the comment from the brother, said to his Mama, "I really think Mrs Perry's minion obsession has gone too far". Haha, and then they bought me these!

~Three~
My kiddos wrote the best Persuasive texts this week. Love them.

~ Four~
Kiddos loved playing Land Grab this week using our dry erase pockets and new whiteboard markers. We are really starting to understand multiplication {whew}.

~ Five ~
If you are following me on Instagram, you'd know I had an amazing time at Groovin the Moo last weekend. Dirty Docs are always a good sign of a fun time!

Hope you had a great week!

Five for Friday~ 30th of January

Oh boy, it's been a while since I've done one of these! I'm linking up with Kasey from Doodlebugs to share the happenings from this week.

Thursday was the first day back at work for 2015. Yay! New room, new year level (hello Grade 3 & 4), new kids. My new room is a gorgeous pile of gorgeousness. Love it!

Love my minion cushion from my niece.

 Bag lockers & tubs
Reward charts

Star display from our transition day.

Fish and pencil trolley.... because that works? :)

 Our Reading Corner

Curtained area

We kicked off our first day with some Name Zentangles. The kids did an excellent job with their artworks, I have definitely missed teaching bigger kids.

I got the idea from this pin. We looked at filling the background in with different Zentangle patterns and I used this template as an example.

As my iPhoto has just decided to die I don't have any other photos to share (grr).

Happy weekend,

Five for Friday~ Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween Friday! We have had another epic week. Very glad it is Friday! Linking up with Kasey from Doodlebugs to share what we've been up to.

This week we have studied spiders, if you couldn't tell :) The kids loved our spider web carpet which I made Monday with some masking tape, inspired by my friend Stef from Miss Galvin Learns.

We made these super easy Spider hats. I found the idea via Pinterest from MamaOT

gorgeous class Mum made these delicious spider cupcakes and these super fun and messy popstick spider webs with pompom siders.

We also made Frankenstein's from Deanna's Halloween unit which I found through Mel's post.

Plus we made our My Little Monster books. Just click on the link or pic to download.

Wishing you a fab weekend,
