5 for Friday

How good is life?!  It has been one of those weeks where I have been feeling that SO much- must be only 8 work days left that helps that :)

Everything at the minute is CRAZY! We are busy every weekend until Christmas, as I'm sure most people are.

~ One ~
Last Friday night we had a school {hilarious} Trivia night to raise money for the family of one of our Prep students who has leukaemia. We had 21 tables, over 200 people in attendance for a school of just over 200 kids. The school parents who organised the night raised much needed money for this family for this poppets arrival home and rehabilitation. I will truly miss this wonderful community I have been lucky to be a part of.

~ Two ~
Christmas Craziness
We made Hipster Santa's from Reagan's Techy Santa craftivity. Aren't they they cutest?!

Stockings from Clever Patch. If you are in Australia check them out. Their craft packs are brilliant- they come with everything and are well worth the money. The kidlets did a great job with these! I love watching boys sew, very cute.

~ Three ~
Prep Transitions
We finished our final Prep {Kinder} transition with the new preppies on Tuesday at my new school. This has been a great way to meet my new poppets, some of the staff and families but it has been full on. Big responsibility taking all this on (3 transition days, planning, class placements, etc) plus still trying to be at my current school but we survived! And completed it all beautifully.

~ Four ~
Christmas shopping is completed {except for my hubby's gifts}. We spent both Saturday & Sunday shopping last weekend. Bought some gorgeous gifts from the Square handmade market in town. Went both days... slightly naughty of me but bought some gorgeous pressies and some stuff for myself :)

~ Five ~
We are off to see Bon Jovi tonight!!! Eeekk! Planning to visit the Myer windows, St Kilda pier and enjoy a nice drink in the process. Can't wait to get to the city.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I'm very excited to have my first Christmas product up in my store. I can thank an unexpected root canal this morning for having the afternoon to finish it. Fun.

Anyway :) Here are my Christmas Postcards (sorry about the middle pictures being creamy coloured- I do not have the brain power at the minute to fix it).

Aren't they cute?! I have used clipart from a bunch of talented people (listed in the credits) & I even dabbled in making some of my own too. Yay!

I'm planning to use these to kick off our Christmas unit in the next couple of weeks. Oh the possibilities... letters to santa, as cards for our presents, a letter to teachers or parents as end of year thank-you's.

By the way, while you are checking out my store please follow me then comment on yesterday's post to go in the draw to win a copy of this {or one of my other Christmas units when I finish them} once I reach 100 followers on TpT. Only 16 more to go.

But in amongst kinder to prep transitions, reports, assessment, class lists, working between two schools, etc, etc I have managed to make a freebie for you! And I'm linking up with Simply Kinder to share it. Go and check out all the other amazing freebies linked up.

We are exploring measuring again this week using non-uniform units such as counters, pop sticks & unifix. The kiddos have loved this!

Storybook Saturday

I'm linking up with the lovely Paula at Paula's Place to show you our book of the week!

We have been focusing on rhyme this term and have been loving the "There was an Old lady/Old Bloke who..." books.

This week we will be reading "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Thong". Incase you are wondering- 'what?' "thong" is the Aussie word for "flip flop" :)

I can't wait for Christmas (every year) but I'm super excited now as my new copy of "There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Star" just arrived. Bring on December!

Melbourne Cup Activities & Horsey stuff

Tomorrow is the Melbourne Cup in Australia (it's a big horse race incase you have no idea what I am talking about).

This is a HUGE day here {we don't get the public holiday- we had ours last week for our own local Cup}- we have dress up's at school, class sweeps & we all watch the race together at 3pm. The kids love it and it is a school tradition. But 240 kids + teachers in one room cheering and it makes for a mighty LOUD 15 minutes.

Here are a few free activities if you are lucky enough to be working tomorrow & are planning to join the craziness :)

Horse Collage & Race Day Hat from Zart Art
I am a huge Zart Art fan. If you are in Australia check them out. Their PD's are great {particularly their Bookweek one}.

Reading Comprehension Activity for grade 3+

Number puzzle from Mel at Frog Spot

Writing Template from Stef at Miss Galvin Learns

Horse mask

Race Day photo booth props/masks from Pretty and Print

Colouring pages & more from Hello Kids

Horse Toilet Paper Roll craft from DLTK

Plastic Egg Cup Jockey's from Craft E Magee
I so want to make these! And I have a ton of packets of plastic eggs... Mmm...

And if you are betting tomorrow good luck!

Currently... November!

How the heck did it get to be November already?! Says the girl who has been counting down to our end of year & summer holidays (33 work days). So a new month = another chance to link up with Farley!

Listening & Loving & Wanting- We have just arrived home from the beach! We went to Lorne on the Great Ocean Road for the weekend. The weather yesterday was amazing, hot & sunny. Plus we had Pizza from Pizza, Pizza for tea... I swear I would drive to Lorne once a week just to eat from there, it's that good!

Feelin' a bit tired after the drive back {its over 3 hours but was totally worth it}.
Sidenote- I think if you look back at all of my currently's the washing machine would be a big regular in the 'listening'.... We must always go away the last weekend of the month.

Thinking- Our school year ends in 7 weeks so it would normally be a crazy time of year with new grades, planning, classroom changes, Christmas shopping, end of year break ups & Christmas parties, report writing, class transition days, etc, etc but to make it even more EXCITING {tiring} I have a new job for next year! This will be my first ever change of schools which will hopefully be a great way to start my 8th year of teaching.

Yummy pin- I so want to try this one- Cake Batter Milkshake from Cooking Classy. I love Cake Batter ice cream from Cold Rock and this sounds just as good.

Happy November,

Five for Friday!

Oh Friday how I love you!

1. Apple Measuring
I blogged about this earlier in the week but aren't they cute!

2. Poetry
I ended up sticking to the apple theme this week when I stumbled across this idea from the talented Mrs Jump.

3. Number Heads
My kiddos love playing Number Heads (number version of Celebrity Heads). We have been focusing on 2-digit numbers.

4. There was an Old Bloke Who Swallowed a Chook
We have been focusing on rhyming words this term and have so far read the books "I know an old lady who swallowed a fly/bat/pie". This week we read the Australian version "There was an Old Bloke Who Swallowed a Chook". They loved this! It's a very 'Aussie' version where the old bloke (man) ends up swallowing a ute (truck).

5. Op Shopping, Garage Sales & Awesome Vintage Finds

 telephone table

 Nally canisters

Pyrex dish- LOVE!

I spent a lovely Spring day last Saturday on a solo road trip to Ballarat to pick up a super cute apple stool that I purchased for my classroom next year (pics to come). I shopped along the way there and got the best finds. The telephone table was found in the Old Mill Markets in Daylesford in a stall hidden under a pile of stuff and it was CHEAP!

I found my Nally canisters at my first stop on the road trip at the local Vietnam Vet Garage Sale and bargained with the guy in charge (I got the pyrex dish & some others for free). They look so great in our kitchen! Plus I could sell them on ebay now for at least double- bonus.

To those peeps lucky enough to be celebrating Halloween this week (it's not really a 'done' thing in Australia) I wish you an awesomely spooky week,
